Compare Loose Diamonds

1. Compare Different Diamonds
Every diamond is unique. You will find similar diamonds, but they are never the same. Diamond grading labs use 4Cs and other attributes to rate diamonds, and give each diamond a certificate. With certificates and grading attributes, it's not hard to evaluate a diamond. Shoppers can compare similar diamonds to pick the most suitable one.

2. Compare The Same Diamond
Compare the same diamond? Yes, it is the same diamond, but has been selling by different retail jewelers. Whether different retail jewelers have different mark-up or they have different cost from the same wholesale diamond dealer (might be volume reason, etc), the same diamond can have big difference on retail price. The most efficient way to get the bargain is to have direct comparison.

3. Compare Only Loose Diamonds
A diamond pre-set on a ring is like a body builder wearing a thick jacket, even the diamond expert can not identify its quality. If you are a picky shopper, we highly recommend you to design your own ring by hand picking a loose diamond and an engagement ring setting. The diamond jeweler will set the diamond onto the ring, and ship you the finished diamond ring. Comparing and selecting your own loose diamond also adds special meaning to the ring. If you don't have enough time, purchase pre-set diamond rings from reputable jewelers, like Mondera and James Allen.

4. Compare Loose Diamonds from the Same Diamond Grading Lab.
Out of all diamond grading laboratories, GIA and AGS are the strictest in the industry. Two diamonds from different labs might be both identified as the same color on paper, but in reality they can be one or two scale different from each other. A lower cost diamond with a grading report from less reputable laboratory is not necessarily a bargain. If you want to be safe, go for GIA and AGS diamonds.
